Well, even though the blog hasn’t been super active, all sorts of wild and wonderful happenings have been occurring behind the scenes at Fibre Goddess.  Each day, this little dream of starting my own fibre business comes closer and closer to reality.

Besides lots of spinning, I have started dyeing yarn and fibre!  This has been such a fun and amazing experience and I’m so excited to show the world what I’ve been up to.

My first step on this journey was to figure out what yarn bases I should carry.  Being the over thinker that I am, I can tell you that much time went into this process.   All wholesalers suggest that retailers rename their bases to something their customers will recognize as their own.   As I am a complete and utter pop culture junkie, I decided that my bases will be named after pop culture icons and my colourways will be named after moments, songs, movie lines, etc.

I present to you the yarn bases for Fibre Goddess’ handdyed yarn:

Cash – SW(superwash) 80% SW Merino/10%Cashmere/10%Nylon Sock Yarn 375yd/115g
This is named of course after the incomparable Johhny Cash and for it’s cashmere content, which makes this yarn incredibly soft.

“Out of the Blue” on Cash.

Twisted – High twist 80%BFL/20%nylon sock yarn 400yd/100g

This yarn is solid and will be hard wearing for socks, yet next to skin soft.  Twisted (Sister) is really gonna rock your world.
“Lady in Red” on Twisted

Audrey – 50%SW Merino/50%Silk fingering weight, 375yds/115g

This blend is pure luxury from the softness in hand to the slight sheen from the silk.   Named after Audrey Hepburn, you can’t get much more classic and beautiful than this yarn.
“Suzie, Don’t Leave Me With Your Boyfriend” on Audrey

Vedder – SW Merino DK weight yarn,  250yds/115g

This 4ply DK weight yarn is soft in hand and named after the incredible Eddie Vedder, lead singer of Pearl Jam and one of my all time favourites.
“Green Wanting Blue” on Vedder

Dumbledore – Merino Worsted Weight, 218 yds/100g

This non-superwash wool is next to skin soft and the perfect worsted weight yarn.  As with all my worsted weight yarns, it is named after a Harry Potter character.
“Chasing the Clouds Away” on Dumbledore

Hermione – White SW Merino/Bamboo 80/20 Worsted, 200yds/115g

This yarn is processed at a small mill in New Brunswick, my home province so it holds a special place in my heart.  The sheen in this yarn is lovely.  Named after the smartest person at Hogwarts.
“Blush & Bashful” on Hermione

Tonks – SW Grey Merino/Bamboo 80/20 Worsted, 200 yds/115g

This naturally colored grey yarn looks lovely in all of it’s natural grey and also adds beautiful depth when it’s dyed.  Named after the always colourful Tonks.
“Lady in Red” on Tonks

Joplin –  SW Merino Bulky,  106yds/100g

This bulky yarn is ever so smooshy.  It’s no secret to anyone that knows me that Janis Joplin is and always will be tops in my books.   With her voice and personality, who else could I name my bulky base after?
“50 Shades of Feminism” on Joplin

Dolly – 80% alpaca, 20% SW merino SUPER Bulky, approx 25yd/8oz

This might be the yarn that I am most excited to debut.  This yarn is also processed at the same fibre mill as Hermoine and Tonks.   This incredibly bulky yarn is soft and super fun.   The only person who has the personality big enough to name this yarn after is of course the one and only, Dolly Parton.

“Lady in Red” on Dolly

So, there you have it, all of my yarn bases.  Stay tuned for more big news and introduction of some of my colourways.
